Make sure your employees enroll in direct deposit

If you are or will be supervising employees, we ask that you help them hit the “easy” button by providing them with direct deposit enrollment instructions and incorporate this time-saving method into your area’s existing hands-on employee training. As a reminder, per University Policy 601.2, direct deposit is mandatory for all individuals paid through UNC Charlotte’s payroll system. Direct deposit cannot be mandated for federal work-study wages, but you can still encourage all students to enroll and receive this benefit, as outlined here.

Their pay goes into the bank. They don’t.

  • Enrolling in direct deposit allows for automatic deposit of paychecks and reimbursements into employees’ specified bank account. Their pay will be in their account ready for immediate use.

Direct deposit is

  • Safe. Direct deposit eliminates the possibility of lost, stolen, or damaged paper checks.

  • Secure. Two-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security to protect bank information.

  • Confidential. Direct deposit reduces the handling of personal information by others.

  • Reliable. Once enrolled, payment recipients receive a Direct Deposit Remittance Advice via University email two to three days before the deposit occurs.

  • Free. This benefit is offered at no additional charge.

  • Mandatory. Per University Policy 601.2, direct deposit is required for all individuals paid through UNC Charlotte’s payroll system.
