Pending changes in COVID-19 trends and other related guidance, University travel expenditures will be allowed via a phased-in approach as follows:
|You can begin booking travel on||For trips that begin in...|
|May 11||November or later|
|June 1||October or later|
|July 1||September or later|
Please continue to reference coronavirus FAQs regarding University-sponsored travel for more information about travel restrictions that went into place in March.
- It is the department’s responsibility to cover any cancellation expenses or fees. Follow the University’s Travel Manual guidance, specifically in Section II.1.6, Cancellations, regarding charges related to canceled travel. As always, continue to exercise care in incurring expenses and treat University funds as if they were your own. Consult with your business officers regarding any department-specific guidelines and restrictions.
- All in-state gatherings of 10 or more people, and all travel outside the state, continue to be suspended unless an exception is authorized by the Chancellor or Provost.
Per Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM) guidance, once the North Carolina stay-at-home order is rescinded, current travel should be limited to instances involving public safety and health, job requirements, economic development opportunities, and emergency situations related to the custody and/or care of persons for whom the state is responsible.
We will send updates with any changes to this phased plan.
